Our school is actively involved in the Discover Primary Science and Maths (DPSM) programme. Discover Primary Science and Maths (DPSM) is a national programme, run by Science Foundation Ireland. It was established to foster an interest in science, technology, engineering and maths among children. This programme delivers science and maths in an interesting, relevant and visual way. We have been involved with the programme for almost ten years now and regularly win awards. Here are some of the activities/experiments we have completed;
- Bouncing Eggs and Bending Bones - just add vinegar and see how they change.
- Dancing Raisins - watch raisins dance with the help of carbon dioxide in sparkling water.
- Examine the way plants drink - water travels up from the stem to the top of the plant. Food colouring will change the colour of the flower or plant.
- Investigate sounds - children listen to sounds and and try to guess what it is.
